- 4 Atoria's Family Bakery Traditional Pitas, cut in half
- 1 lb extra lean ground beef
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small white onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup shaved carrots
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 - 2 tablespoons Shawarma spice blend
- 1 Goya Sazon Culantro y Achiote Packet
- 1 tablespoon double-concentrated tomato paste
- 1-2 tablespoons of (Mild) Harissa Sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Mediterranean Herb Feta Cheese Crumbles
- 1/2 cup lettuce or spinach, chopped finely
- Kosher Salt, to taste
- 1-2 tbsp spicy harissa tahini
- 1 tbsp curly parsley, chopped
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, and shaved carrots, cooking until onions are translucent.
- Add the extra lean ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned.
- Stir in cumin, Shawarma spice blend, Goya Sazon Culantro y Achiote Packet, and double concentrated tomato paste. Mix well to incorporate the flavors.
- Pour in the beef broth and add your favorite pre-made (Mild) Harissa Sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer until the liquid reduces and the flavors meld.
- After allowing the beef to simmer for at least 15 minutes, place the Pitas on a baking sheet. Brush them lightly with olive oil.
- Spoon the harissa beef mixture onto the Pitas, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle feta cheese over the top of each Pita.
- Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes or until the edges of the Pitas are golden.
- Remove from the oven and top with fresh lettuce or spinach.
- Drizzle spicy harissa tahini over the Pitas and garnish with chopped cilantro and parsley.
- Slice and serve your delicious harissa beef over Pitas with feta cheese. Fold it up and eat each piece like a taco! Enjoy!
